XVII Simulation Contest

The Simulation Contest aims to promote the dissemination of operations research as a highly valuable tool for solving everyday problems in logistics and production, while rewarding the creativity and talent of participating students. It encourages participants to put their skills to the test in a real consulting-type case.

The entire contest is conducted remotely, as we welcome teams from international universities. Examples of the activities include:

  • Delivery of starter kits

  • Training sessions and Q&A meetings

  • Submission of solutions

  • Announcement of finalists

  • The finalists’ award ceremony, which takes place in person

Rules

Rules

  • Number of participants: Teams must consist of 1, 2, or 3 participants.

  • Eligibility of members: All team members must be undergraduate students. Each member’s graduation date must be in the current academic year or later.

  • Participation in previous editions: Team members may have participated in previous editions of the contest, provided they were not part of a finalist team. If a student was a finalist in a previous edition, they cannot participate in future editions.

  • Faculty advisor: Each team must have a professor who guides and supports them with their knowledge and experience throughout the competition.

  • Project authorship: The project must be exclusively authored by the student team members.

  • Failure to comply with the rules will result in disqualification.

We officially announce the XVII Simulation Contest with the following schedule:

  • August 5, 2025: Registration opens

  • October 8, 2025: Final registration deadline

  • October 10, 2025: Contest begins (case study and software licenses sent to each team)

  • December 18, 2025: Submission of solutions

The finalists will be announced in February 2026.

Registration

The registration fees per team are:

  • $40 USD full price.

  • 20% discount if 3 teams from the same university register
